Re: Why Clipping is Worse in MP3?

Because MP3 is an approximation? Yes, plus the fact that MP3s can go over 0 dB. There are now three vertical red lines showing instances of clipping. Just three lines is likely to be inaudible. If you zoom in close, I'd expect that each line is just a single sample, so on playback, that sample valu...

Is your Mac fully updated?
Is it set to update automatically, or even to download updates automatically?

Re: Audacity recording over itself?

that should be more than enough to record for a while. It's getting a bit low. A 5 hour stereo recording at 44100 Hz sample rate will require about 6 GB. If you normalize the recording, that's another 6 GB. But when I recroded overnight What else was your Mac doing overnight? Updating? Backups?

My hard-drive is full, but I have like 35GB left
35 GB out of how much? What is the disk capacity?

I assume that "Sound Activated Recording" is NOT enabled? (In Audacity 2.4.2 the setting is in "Transport menu > Transport Options")

And while you're in there, make it able to use the stand-alone Noise Profile we saved from the new and improved Noise Reduction.
That will not be in the next version. FFT is rather complicated and not very fast in Nyquist.

It's connected to the computer.
How? USB?

To narrow down the possibilities, it would be useful to know if the analog outputs are working.

Re: No sound or waveform?

Do you have the turntable connected to an amp / speakers? Can you test if the analog output is working?
