Re: using Audacity and a Cronjob to create a scheduled recor

Not unless you modify the Audacity source code.
The only thing that Audacity does from the command line is to open, and optionally load a single file.

It may be worth looking at Sox http://sox.sourceforge.net/

Re: Overdub Problem

I zoomed in and saw that the 2nd track really was being recorded all the way through, except sometimes just very quietly. In that case it does not sound like it's due to a data bottleneck - it sounds far more like the sound card is trying to do noise suppression, but why it should only be on the se...

Does Windows Media player work with the E-MU?
Does "Sound Recorder" work with it?

Re: mic

the mic is a electro voice n/d767a The microphone input on most computers are not really suitable for this type of microphone - they are designed to work with cheap computer microphones for making Skype calls rather than for recording purposes. It is sometimes possible to make them work, but even t...

Re: Zoom H2... Can't get it to work record through Audacity!

You must connect the Zoom to the computer with the USB cable, then select the microphone option on the Zoom (see the Zoom instructions for details. After the H2 is connected and recognised by your operating system, launch Audacity (1.3.12 recommended) and in "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices&q...

Re: WAV files, Metatags, versus Windows Media Player

For lossless, with robust metadata, Flac is an excellent choice, but as you point out it falls down because few portable media players support it. What a lot of people that have large libraries of digital audio do is to keep an archive in a lossless format, then dump it down to MP3 onto their MP3 pl...

Re: New Plug-In: Transmorpher

Should be about 10 semitones That's what I thought, only I'm not getting that. I'm getting about 1 semitone shift, and short of using your computer I think that I am meeting all of the conditions. What if 1 frequency click WAS 1 cent? No problem with that - Tuners and other audio plug-ins often use...

Re: Can't access most "edit" or "file" commands

Unless your computer is really old you are likely to do better with the 1.3.12 version (I don't use Macs so I don't know the model numbers) Audacity 1.2.6 is really old and is no longer maintained. Most of the menu items are only available in "Stop" mode and are greyed out when in "Pl...

Update: It looks like the allocated storage space for uploads had been reached (for the entire forum).
The storage space has now been increased, so uploading should now be back to normal.

Re: File Disappeared - HELP!

It sounds like Audacity crashed at just the wrong time. Unfortunately Audacity 1.2.6 does not recover very well from crashing. The good news is that Audacity 1.3.12 (usually) crashes less often, and if it does crash it is much better at automatically recovering the audio. I would highly recommend Au...
