Re: Big Round of thanks
You're welcome Gcodom, As "code is not your bag", perhaps, as you become more familiar with Audacity, you would consider helping out on the forum or with the documentation? Many of the questions that we regularly see are quite simple and I expect that in a very short time you will be in a ...

Re: How to set the input source
For Audacity 1.3.12 questions, please post in the 1.3.x part of the forum (you posted in the 1.2.x section, but no worries I'll move it). In "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" you should leave the "Host" and the "Devices" set to the default values of "ALSA/default...

Re: using Audacity and a Cronjob to create a scheduled recor
Would be great if they had a way to schedule more than one recording. I will keep looking for something. I did a quick look on Google and most of the suggestion are to use "arecord" or "mplayer" to record, and use a cron to schedule the recordings. See here for one relevant disc...

Re: using Audacity and a Cronjob to create a scheduled recor
If you have an up to date Ubuntu installation (10.x) the version of Audacity in the repository version of Audacity is 1.3.12 (you have posted in the 1.2.x part of the forum). Audacity 1.3.12 has a feature called "timer record" (in the Transport menu). This feature allows you to schedule on...

Re: Behringer c-1u Condenser USB mic
The problem I am having is that the mic is too quiet I guess that you are not a rock vocalist, and you are not close mic'ing a saxophone. These microphones are designed to be able to cope with reasonably high level audio without distorting, but because there is no adjustable "gain" in the...

Re: Recording level maxes out and clips at +/- .5
I use a Neumann TLM 103 mic plugged into a pre-amp, then directly to the computer . Could you fill out some detail on that last bit? What sort of pre-amp is it and exactly what is it plugged into? Have you tried turning down the gain on the pre-amp and increasing the recording level in the computer?
