Re: install and then change language
I think that you may need to use Audacity 1.3.12. You can get it from the main Audacity web site: http://audacityteam.org/download/

"To find out gambling is going on here" Ah ha - didn't get it from the first line - but I think that's Casablanca isn't it? - French policeman playing cards or something? It's a real long time since I've seen the film. Yes, the "Mono to Stereo" option would occasionally be usefu...

Re: Windows 2010
I'm not aware of anyone testing it, though I doubt that it will work as Audacity requires fast continuous access to the hard drive which you are unlikely to achieve over a network.

machine may have some exotic parts, can that mean anything Your hardware should not make any difference. I presume that you are currently trying to get this going on the genuine Windows XP SP3? It would not surprise me if it does not work on tinyxp. So that I've got a clear picture - you have Windo...

Re: "Stopped Working" error message.
Apparently, leaving this soundcard plugged in to the PC overrides the audio output. Unplugging it solved the problem. Yes, Windows has a habit of automatically allocating both input and output to any USB audio device that is connected. If you look in the Control Panel under "Sound" it wil...

Re: changing play speed (audible quality loss ?)
As far as I'm aware the same applies to Audacity 1.2.6, though I'd highly recommend upgrading to Audacity 1.3.12.
You can have both versions installed, but Audacity 1.2.6 cannot open projects created by Audacity 1.3.x

"Error when opening sound device. Check output device settings and the project sampling rate" Being only an enthusiastic amateur, what do I do to overcome this one? Believe it or not, you need to check you sound device setting :) Or to put that into English - What are you recording with? ...

Re: Samson G-Track Static Noise
I've had a play on Vista and I can reproduce the problem. (tested using Vista Home with a Zoom H2 as a stereo USB microphone) Switching Audacity from using MME (in Edit > Preferences > Devices > Host) to Direct Sound produce a big increase in noise (much like your Win 7 sample). Switching back to MM...
