Re: Installation packages for Linux

Unfortunately, that makes it rather complicated. Cmake no longer provide binaries for 32-bit Linux, so if you want to go ahead with this you would need to download the source code for Cmake, build that and install Cmake, and only then can you build Audacity. Would this screen grab help?
Your "Tools" toolbar is hidden. Enable it in "View menu > Toolbars".

(Currently you have the "Multi-tool" enabled)

Re: Accessing Metadata with Nyquist?

It would be possible to create a plug-in that labels the current selection and adds the start and/or end time of the selection to the label text.
You could then use "Export Multiple" to export the labelled audio, using the label text as the file name.

Re: Accessing Metadata with Nyquist?

Perhaps you could include the time in the name of the file:
"somethingorother_3-22_to_15-59.wav"
(take care to ensure that the file names are legal: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... ing-a-file)

Re: Accessing Metadata with Nyquist?

I've explained what I need to do already. But you haven't explained "why". From the information given so far, the answer would appear to be to just select the part that you want to play, then "File menu > Export > Export Selected Audio", and create a new file that contains only ...

Re: GUI fonts difficult to read

Supporting High DPI has been a slow process. It is gradually improving, and Audacity 2.4.2 is noticeably better than previous versions, but still not perfect. This is Audacity 2.4.2 on Xubuntu 18.04 with screen resolution 1920 x 1080. You may notice that the Device Toolbar is much better, but the &q...

Perhaps you could cut to the chase and tell us what you are actually trying to do.
