Re: Notch Filter
0 Hz notch filter? I suppose someone might try that. Maybe by accident. Maybe thinking it will remove DC? I think we need an error message there as well. I'm not so sure about that. Theoretically, does a notch filter with a centre frequency of 0 Hz make sense? Is it like asking the filter to remove...

Re: Save without re-encoding!...
The original file is also .mp3 as described above. Then keep hold of that copy and use that each time. For simple edits such as trimming the length you could use programs as MP3split (also free and open source http://mp3splt.sourceforge.net/mp3splt_page/home.php ) MP3Split is able to make simple ed...

Re: Save without re-encoding!...
Audacity always works with uncompressed audio. To avoid compounding sound quality loss through MP3 encoding, always work from the original file. Re: Increase Levels??
Some USB turntables have a volume control hidden on the bottom (underneath the turntable), so check there if you've not already done so.
Which version of Audacity and which Windows are you using?
(For the Audacity version, look in "Help menu > About Audacity")

Re: Labelling tracks
Thanks, that shows why it is not working correctly. The problem is that you have multiple label tracks (not sure how you managed to do that). All of the labels need to be in the same label track. To move all of your labels into the first label track, click on "Tracks menu > Edit Labels" In...

Re: Notch Filter
Keep it simple +1 Do you have a preference for just constraining the input values or generating an error message? My preference is for an error message generated if the input is outside of the maximum possible range of 0 to sample-rate/2 A notch filter with a centre frequency of zero does nothing an...

Re: Access to the Envelope Tool via the keyboard?
Hi Andrew, You posted in the Audacity 1.2.x part of the forum. I've moved this topic to the Audacity 1.3.x section. You are correct, the envelope tool is not accessible due to its reliance on mouse control. To address this issue I have written some plug-ins that provide similar functionality and tha...

I'm not sure that counts as an "official endorsement" for Anwidasoft DX Reverb Lite, but personally I think it's one of the best free reverbs around.

Re: Notch Filter
I did some experiments a long time ago cascading notch filters to the 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. harmonics of the fundamental hum frequency. Got comb filtering/ringing pretty quickly, There's a really long thread somewhere in the forum on this question, and yes, comb/ringing effects tend to mount up prett...

Re: Updated Sound Finder
I quite like the way Regular Interval Labels does it. If the label text box is empty the number only is produced; if the label text box has text, the text is appended to the number. Regular Interval Labels also has an option of whether to use numbers or just the text. Would we want that? Personally...
