Re: Save without re-encoding!...
What you mean "to disable every feature"? How this could be done? What I mean is that only very basic editing is possible when working directly on compressed audio formats. That is not the purpose of Audacity. Audacity is designed as a multi-track audio editor that can perform complex edi...

Re: Loss of quality / aiff to wav
Already alarm bells are ringing. How is it possible that an artistic production format is foreign to a CD company, and how it's possible they can't convert it.. I agree with Koz that it seems extremely strange that a CD company cannot handle 16 bit AIFF. Open the show in Audacity. Export > Other Un...
Re: Cables
Audacity does not record MIDI, it only records audio. MIDI is not audio (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_In ... _Interface )

Re: SPAM Debris?
I think that sums it up.kozikowski wrote:I've been deleting the user and posts and yes, I do wish there was a faster way to do it. 27 rapid new postings for "[email protected]@ do not warrant any further effort.
I think many of these tools are burned into the forum software and do not change.

Regarding the following extracts from "Terms and Conditions of GPL v2" http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html If the software is modified by someone else and passed on, we want its recipients to know that what they have is not the original, so that any problems introduced by others will ...

Re: SPAM Debris?
I've seen one or perhaps 2 similar instances of posts with deleted users. I guess it's possible this could be due to a post being sent at the same moment as the spammer is being banned. I think it can occur if you ban a user but do not select to delete all posts. Whatever the cause I think it's more...

The "X" over the icon means that you have not copied the file over correctly.
Delete that icon and try to do the copy paste again. (Try the "Copy/Paste" commands in Nautilus Edit menu rather than drag/drop)

Re: Copying and pasting from one channel to another
Excellent :) I'm currently using Ubuntu 9.04 and will be updating to 10.04 shortly. Another point of interest is that Ubuntu 10.04 has Audacity 1.3.12 in the repository, which means that you probably posted in the wrong part of the forum ;) I'll move this to the Audacity 1.3.x section as I assume th...

Re: Copying and pasting from one channel to another
It's probably in /usr/share/audacity/ (or possibly /usr/local/share/audacity/ ) As it's not in your home folder you will need root permissions to paste a file there. If you prefer graphical interfaces, open a terminal window and type: sudo nautilus which will open Nautilus with root permissions. You...

Re: Save without re-encoding!...
Unfortunately the only way that could be done would be to disable every feature in Audacity except for the most basic cut and trim type edits, but there are already free open source programs that do that, so why reinvent the wheel?
