Re: Simple overall tone balancing.

Audacity 1.3 supports several different types of plug-ins; LADSPA, Nyquist, some VST and on Macs AU. This plug-in is a Nyquist plug-in. A common feature of all Nyquist plug-ins is that they have an "OK" button and a "Debug" button. The Debug button is primarily intended for plug-...

Re: Simplified flexible Nyquist fade in and out effect

I've only had time for a quick look, but I'm only getting Fade-ins and not Fade-outs. What's the motivation of this simplified version? Do you think the full version is too complicated? Personally I find the ability to produce a partial fade (for example fade down to half volume) is one of the most ...

Re: edited wav larger than original?

What was the original file format? (128 kbps MP3?) What is the file format of the Exported file? (16 bit 44100 Hz WAV?) Re: producing a sequence of beeps and silence

Just to be clear, what you want is: beep, x minutes of silence, beep, y minutes of silence, beep, x minutes of silence, etc. I'll assume that is what is required, but offer an alternative method (using Audacity 1.3.12) 1) Track menu > Add New > Audio Track 2) Create a plain text file (for example i...

Re: "Straight Across" Transfer

Conversion from 16 bit to 32 bit float is lossless. In Audacity 1.3.x when importing Audacity will use whichever is the higher quality of a) the file bit depth or b) the Quality setting in Preferences. In Audacity 1.3.x, when Exporting, the audio is "rendered" at 32 bit, so if exporting to...

Re: Simple overall tone balancing.

Unfortunately, this laptop I'm using only has a small amount of ram, and the discussion goe into needing gigabytes of it. If you set "Normalize Output" to "Off" then the amount of ram required is considerably less. It is the "Normalize" function that requires that the ...
