The default settings in GVerb are rubbish.
There are some suggested settings here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/GVerb
I would also recommend using the "Duplicate and mix together" method.

Re: rounding error on label import
I suppose saying I create a label track, export it, and import it in the same session, so that I have what should be two identical label tracks but are not is a step by step account? It's some of the steps. Here's what I'm getting: 1) Open a new Audacity project. 2) Generate 40 frames of a sine ton...

Re: rounding error on label import
Trust Me, in Windows the default name is labels with no extension added. I've just tested this with Audacity 1.3.12 on Windows Vista Home Basic and the default file name was "labels.txt" :? Only the lack of rounding when re-importing lablels creates a problem. I'm still not clear what the...

You also need to be in "Stop" mode. Effects are not available during Record, Playback or Pause.

Re: Identifying the effects and settings on a track?
Most effects in Audacity will remember their setting during an Audacity session, so the next time you use the effect the settings will be those that were used last. When Audacity is closed and reopened the effect settings will usually be reset to their default values. Other than that the only way is...

Instructions for resetting Audacity: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audac ... defaults_2
It sounds like you may be using an old version of Audacity. The current version is 1.3.12 which you can get from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/
