Re: Joining Files

If this is the case, could a note perhaps be added to the guide? I don't think that it would be practical to note every format quirk in each tutorial but there is a note here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/MP3#Limitations iTunes plays the files fine (as long as they don't playback less than 3 s...

Re: 32 bit float vs. 16 bit PCM

If you are only doing simple edits such as cut/paste/trim/delete then there is no advantage to 32 bit. If you are using effects that "process" the audio (including Amplify, Normalize, Fade In/Out, Equalizer, ...) then 32 bit processing is more accurate than 16 bit (hence marginally better ...

Re: Joining Files

MP3 files always have a small gap at the beginning - it's a limitation of the MP3 format.
If you zoom in close on the beginning of the track you can trim off the leading silence.

Re: Missing 10 KHz grid line

Using 'K' instead of '000' from 10000Hz up would reduce crowding of the labels if that's an option in the formatting. For frequencies above 1000Hz it would also be easier to read as kHz. However, on the logarithmic scale there's a lot of values below 1kHz and I don't know whether it's possible to h...

Re: midi to mp3-no audio

Timidity "renders" MIDI to WAV (see Wikipedia article).
You can use your favourite MP3 encoder (or Audacity if you have installed Lame) to encode the WAV file into MP3 format.
If you intend to edit the file in Audacity you should do so before you convert the WAV file to MP3.

Re: Exported recording sounds bad only as Mp3

On Win 7 you should be using Audacity 1.3.12 and not Audacity 1.2.6
http://audacityteam.org/download/

In the Export dialogue, select MP3 as the format, then click on the Options button and use "Preset = Standard"

Try upgrading to the beta version. The 1.2.6 version is no longer developed or supported.

Re: Converting WMA to WAV

If you are using Audacity 1.3.12 and have FFmpeg installed then you may be able to Import the WMA file directly into Audacity, and then Export it as a WAV file. (see here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#installffmpeg ) Otherwise, you could use SUPER by e...

Re: midi to mp3-no audio

If other mp3s play correctly then my guess would be that your "convert midi to mp3" process has not worked and has produced a silent file.
