Re: "Target Fade" effect
As a follow-on, here's a second version which may be marginally more practical. The "window size" for the initial and final sections are adjustable (testing the first plug-in will demonstrate why a user selectable window is required). TargetPeriodFade.ny There are additional notes in the c...

"Target Fade" effect
After persistent requests, I've written a plug-in that creates a linear fade from one level (in dB) to another level (in dB). For example, if you want the selection to start at -6 dB and fade to -12 dB, you just set the 'Initial Target' to -6 dB and the 'Final Target' to -12 dB. This plug-in is prob...

Re: recording cutting in and out problem
Unfortunately I think it's probably a hardware fault on your sound card.
If you amplify the "silence" in the gaps you can tell that it is basically the same sound as should be there, but at a much lower level and very noisy.

Re: Using Audacity and Jack as a Mastering Suite on OSX
I thought this might work: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=29963 but it's for the linux jack patchba; the manual for JackOSX doesn't say anything about being able to use regular expressions) I don't think it says anything about using regular expressions on Linux either. Another forum user suggested that r...

Re: working with several aup files at once
No, you can't. Only one project may be exported at a time, so it'sac3raven wrote:or can I?
1) open project,
2) Export,
3) (optional) close project
4) open next project

Re: working with several aup files at once
Audacity Projects are not just the AUP file - the AUP file does not contain any audio data - the audio is elsewhere (for example in the project "_data" folder). Audacity Projects are as they say "projects" - they are in a format suitable for manipulating audio while you are still...

Re: recording cutting in and out problem
Hard to picture exactly what you mean. Could you upload a short sample (WAV or FLAC format) somewhere on the internet (for example "sendspace.com") and post a link.

Re: Delay hearing myself while recording with USB mic
I've read elsewhere in the forums that enabling the hardware playback option in Audacity>Preferences will fix the problem, but I don't have that feature availabe in Audacity. Hardware PlayThrough is only an option on Macs, but it does not help with USB microphones anyway. (On Windows Audacity defau...

Re: noise reduction help
I have many files to treat and I was wondering whether there's any way to automate this process? You can do basic batch processing using "Chains" (there are many limitations to what batch processes are currently supported) http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Edit_Chains When us...
