As an experiment, could you try turning off Compiz and see if the problem is still there.

Re: L/R Channel Imbalance
If you wish to adjust the Left Right balance to a different position from that produced by Normalize, use the "Pan" slider on the left of the track. The pan position will be taken into account when you export.

Re: Can I send an Audacity project in an e-mail?
In Audacity 1.3.12 there is an option to "Save a compressed copy of the project". This option will give you a _data folder that contains compressed copies of all the audio data. Then e-mail the AUP file AND the _data folder. Usually the better method is to Export an MP3 file and e-mail that.

Re: Fadeout parameter in % or ms (for multiple files process
If all the files are the same length then you could import multiple files, then select the last 5% in all files and apply the fade, then use Export Multiple (based on tracks) to export the files. If you intend to try this method I would suggest trying it with just a couple of tracks, then if success...

Enable "Rescan VST effects next time Audacity is started", then restart Audacity.

For Audacity 1.3.12 you should NOT have the VST enabler installed - that's just for Audacity 1.2.x

Re: Mixing tracks manually
How can I simply play over Track 1 without recording it? 1) Use headphones to monitor (not speakers, or your microphone will pick up sound from the speakers). 2) "Software Playthrough" should be OFF (bottom of the Transport menu) 3) "Overdub" should be ON (bottom of the Transpor...

Re: Playback problem using with Casio Keyboard drum effects
Software Playthrough should be off.
Check your sound card settings and ensure that there are no "enhancement" effects enabled. (look for a loudspeaker icon near the Time/Date on your desktop for access to the sound card interface.
