Re: sound quality deterioration
MIDI is not audio. A MIDI file is a set of instructions that tell a synthesizer what notes to play, which sounds to use, when to play them and how loud. When you play a MIDI file in Windows Media Player, these instructions are played through the software synthesizer that is built into Windows Media ...

Re: Playback problem using with Casio Keyboard drum effects
We'll need to narrow this down a bit. If you connect your headphones directly to the computer (speakers disconnected) do you still hear an echo? If you play the keyboard into the computer but without Audacity running, what do you hear? If you play the keyboard into the computer but with Audacity run...

AutoHotkeys is free and open source.
I've not come across any audio editors (free or paid) that can batch process files in that way. Perhaps if you find one that can do this (and works) you could let us know.

Re: midi to mp3-no audio
Thanks for the clarification. The reason that you cannot find it in the manual is because Audacity cannot convert MIDI to MP3 or to any other audio format. As has already been said, MIDI is not audio, so it cannot be directly converted into an audio format. MIDI files are like "sheet music"...

Re: Error after stopping recording
Audacity 1.2.6 is very old and no longer maintained. Try the new Audacity 1.3.12 http://audacityteam.org/download/
Also, check that you have plenty of free disk space.

Re: "Target Fade" effect
I think I've also gathered that the "Period" variant will continue to (visibly) attenuate the equal amplitude tone if there is still some audio in the window length chosen that is above the target level... even though that pushes the start or end of the audio below the target level. Corre...

That file looks fine.
MP3 is a shortened name for "MPEG 1 layer 3" (or occasionally "MPEG 2 layer 3")

Re: midi to mp3-no audio
I appreciate your willingness to be of help but I am not inclined to used Timidity. Surely, there must be a better resolution to the Audacity issue. I have read the only line manual but have not found the answer that I need. Still looking for answers. Thanks! What exactly is the question? You've sa...
