You can make the "tracks" taller (deeper) by clicking on the bottom edge of the track with your mouse and dragging down.
There's also a useful feature in the "View" menu - "Fit Vertically" - try it.

Re: Recording freezes

the last version I had used to record whatever I threw at it until it went loopy. I wonder why it went loopy - perhaps you're running short of disk space on your C: drive? Perhaps excessive fragmentation? Perhaps Windows has updated your sound card drivers? Programs don't just "go loopy" ...

Re: Strange bass emphasis in recording of vinyl record

The recording set-up sounds like it should give very good results.
How have you set it up for playback? Turtle Beach Line Out to Pioneer Tuner-Amp Tape in?
What does it sound like when you play it back?

Some detail of information but I don't know what exactly - but this does add up. You have are recording something that looks close to a 5 Hz square wave - where's that coming from? That's not normal feedback.

Re: Recording - Distortion/Hiss

When you are playing the tracks together, what is the peak reading that you're getting on the playback meter? If the meter is too small to see clearly, you can grab the edge of the meter toolbar with the mouse, stretch it to the full width of the screen, then "dock" it back in the top of t...

It may to too late to save that project, but we can prevent the accident from happening again. This article explains how Audacity handles data and why it is sometimes better to not tidy up: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=File_Management_Tips After reading that you will see that the aud...

Re: Playback problem using with Casio Keyboard drum effects

There's something we're missing.... Set the computer up for a loopback test - try the loopback test for a second or two to confirm that the strange waves are happening, then without stopping the recording, pull out the loopback lead from the green socket. The recorded track should go "flat line...

Yes. I've upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10, installed Audacity and FFMpeg from the repository and AC3 export works.

Re: Playback problem using with Casio Keyboard drum effects

Wow, that's weird, and it doesn't seem to make sense. The loopback connector that you're using - it is a stereo audio lead? And you are connecting one end to where your speakers were plugged in? And the other end where your keyboard was plugged in? Do the sockets on your computer have colours on the...

Re: Frequency Shifting

Audacity can create files with frequencies up to 100 kHz, however, neither sound cards, CD players, audio amplifiers, loudspeakers headphones or other audio equipment are capable of reproducing such high frequencies. It would be possible (but probably very expensive) to build a device capable of pla...
