Re: Recording with Windows7 64-bit
Thanks for this. I already found that you could drag the recording bars down to a recognisable state but it's not the sort of thing you expect to have to do everytime you use Audicity. And the fit vertically via the View tab does the job nicely but why should we have to do this ourselves, it should...

Re: How can I increase the frequency of the playback "cursor
Here's my results with both ALSA/PA and Jack.
With Jack the cursor is actually a bit smoother than it appears in the video.

Compiling on Ubuntu 10 (Lucid and Maverick)
The version of FFmpeg in the Ubuntu repository is too recent for Audacity 1.3.12 beta and 1.3.13 alpha. To support the Ubuntu version of FFmpeg, Audacity must be patched. Place this patch file in the src directory, then from that location run: patch -p2 < ffmpeg-av-match-ext.patch ffmpeg-av-match-ex...

Re: Plug Ins not showing up in Effects Menu?
The Windows version of the 90 plug-in LADSPA set is a .EXE file. To install the plug-ins you need to run the .exe file. The oficial download link is on this page: http://audacityteam.org/download/plugins Audacity 1.3.12 scans for VST plug-ins. Are you using or wanting to use any VST plug-ins? For Au...

Re: missing sound
Project may also depend on audio data that is outside of the project. For example, if you "Import" a file, then the default behaviour in Audacity is to link to the file and only copy it into the _data folder if the data is changed. If the file is used in its original form, then it is not c...

Re: Ringo's Drum Sound
I've seen some photos of Ringo in the studio for these records, and it looks like they are only using two mics on the kit If they were publicity shots, then they do not necessarily indicate the actual microphone placements used for recording. For example if there was an additional microphone direct...

Re: Strange bass emphasis in recording of vinyl record
The significant difference between those two plots is only really clear in the very high frequency range (above 5 kHz) which just shows a relative dullness to the the vinyl recording. That dullness could easily be the result of a worn stylus, a worn record, or a tone arm that is not set up correctly...

Re: clock tiles for sync-lock visually confusing
I know the devs are reluctant to use colour except when absolutely necessary. I would say this is one of those times. +1 I think that the reluctance is mostly because reliance on a colour change as an indicator is not accessible for people that are colour blind - however, as this is just changing t...

Re: backing up project
If you used music files in your show, it's more involved yes it can be quite tricky with Audacity 1.2 I would highly recommend upgrading to Audacity 1.3.12. In this version there is an option in the File menu to "Check Dependencies", which, if necessary, offers to copy any external data u...
