Re: new user Convert Audacity to word text file ?

Audacity can't do that - you need a specialist "Speech to Text" (speech recognition) program. http://www.google.com/search?q=speech+t ... 8&oe=utf-8
"Dragon Naturally Speaking" is one of the best, but it's not cheap: http://www.nuance.com/dragon/index.htm

Re: VST Instrument plugins

Audacity does not currently have MIDI support - it's being developed in the experimental branch but it's not done yet.
You may want to look at Reaper, Sonar, Cubase. There are many others, but these are the big names. Reaper has a particularly good trial version and very fair pricing.

Do you mean the "sound card mixer" or do you mean a physical mixing desk (mixing console)?

Re: Annoying problem when changing playback spead

Change Speed works by ''resampling'' the audio, affecting its frequency' content. For example, the more you slow down the audio, the more all its frequencies will be reduced, making the audio sound "duller". I can see what you're getting at, and this is definitely better IMO, but I'm not ...

Re: Stopped recording

I tried another tape machine and still no recording input. Also tried a different input cord. I then easily recorded Pandora streaming radio and it worked fine...recording that signal without a hitch. Are you familiar with your sound card settings? (possibly accessed via a loudspeaker icon near the...

Re: What is wrong with this signal?

It's called "DC offset" and it's usually caused by a faulty sound card. In this case it may be that your sound card can't cope with such a high sample rate. Try setting the "Quality" setting in Audacity Preferences to 44100 Hz, or 48000 Hz. If you are using Vista or Win 7 you sho...
