Re: unsuccessful import from GarageBand
AAC is Apple's compressed format. It is generally reckoned to give better audio quality than MP3 for the same compression rates and filesizes (this diffenec declines when less compression is used - i.e higher bitrates) The test results that I've read indicate that there is little significant differ...

Re: mixing sounds
Method 2: Import the new sounds (Audacity will give each sound its own new track) Use the "Time Shift Tool" to slide the clips left/right to the appropriate position (double headed arrow <->, may be accessed from the tool button, or press the F5 key). The tracks will be mixed to create a s...

Re: analog audio source switcher
There some cheap devices out there like the one in the link above, but eventhough it doesn't have (or at least shouldn't) any active components, I was wondering if it could add any extra noise to the audio signal (comparatively to a direct cable). Provided that the switch is reasonably well shielde...

BTW you have posted in the Audacity 1.2.x section, though I suspect that you are actually using Audacity 1.3.x

Re: Installing VST's/Plugins???
Linux does not support VST effects (though there are ways to use VST effects with WINE). swh-plugins, (a large set of LADSPA plug-ins) may be installed with Synaptic. tap-plugins (another collection of LADSPA plug-ins) may be installed with Synaptic. calf-plugins (a few high quality LV2 plug-ins may...

Re: Removing the Noice
Any idea here how to remove a very loud noise without losing the quality of the original voice? You can't. Noise Removal can reduce the level of constant low level noise, but there's a limit to what can be achieved. Some other programs (such as "Gnome Wave Cleaner" on Linux) may be able t...

Re: Stopped recording
There are a wide range of external sound cards (USB) available. The cheapest of these are "USB audio cables", but the sound quality of these tend to be quite poor.
