Re: How do you restore an unsaved 13 hour recording?
Is there ANY way to restore the original 13 hour file Unfortunately that is extremely unlikely. As the original project was not saved there are no deleted files to recover. Very long recordings open up a whole load of unexpected problems - I suspect the one that killed your show is that the WAV for...

Re: Preamps for Ribbon Mics
The ART Digital MPA-II is a relatively inexpensive microphone pre-amp with high gain (75 dB), low noise (Equivalent Input Noise: -129dBu "A" weighted), and adjustable input impedance (150-3000 Ohms). Ribbon mics tend to be affected quite a lot by the impedance load, so having adjustable in...

Re: "Circular" Panning Inquiry
With a 2 speaker, or headphone, system it is not actually possible to position sounds in the front/back plane. The effect that you are referring to is a psychoacoustic illusion. To create the effect requires providing sufficient cues to convince (or at least "suggest") to the listener that...

Re: Not your typical latency question
I do not have, nor wish to use headphones plugged into my guitar pedal for monitoring. That's a shame. The headphone socket is provided specifically to deal with this problem - it's the only way to get zero latency from a USB device. However, if you prefer I think you can connect the audio output f...

Re: Annoying Sound when playing from Audacity on Win 7
It also happens on more than one computer, both differant makes. This is not a normal problem, so there is probably something that these computers have in common that is causing the problem. What sort of computers are they? What sort of speakers? Do you have a microphone or headset connected? Do yo...

Try the instructions in this post - they generally work when other methods fail: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 312#p92312

Re: Nyquist Wish List - Nyquist Prompt Enhancement
Each line is a text box, 5 lines only allowed. There are other limitation to the Generate Prompt - it only works with simple commands that can be executed directly and in sequence. For example, in the Nyquist Prompt box you can enter functions, then call the functions - that does not work with the ...

Re: Sound doesn't play right--just noise
Then it's not a real WAV file. It may have a WAV extension to the file name, but that does not mean that it is a genuine WAV file. If you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 and install FFmpeg then you may be able to import the file (Audacity 1.3.12 with FFmpeg supports many more file types than Audacity 1.2...

Re: Error while opening sound device.
Audacity needs to have access to a recording and a playback device, but Vista has a habit of hiding/disabling recording devices so you probably need to go into the Windows Control Panel and ensure that both a Playback device and a Recording device are enabled, then restart Audacity. See here for som...
