Re: Dr Who Dalek synthesised voice
Audacity 1.3.12 - Vocoder. You need to make two mono tracks - one with the original voice and one with a low frequency wave. Make the two tracks into a mono track (click on the name of the upper track and select "Make Stereo Track") Apply the vocoder effect. As a rough starting point, try ...

Re: Sound problems after first experiments with Jack
I had problems getting Jack started a few months back when I last played around with it (and gave up). Over the last year there have been may significant changes to how (and if) Audacity works with Jack. Audacity 1.3.12 on Ubuntu 10.10 should work well with Jack, pretty much "out-of-the-box&qu...

Re: 3.5mm mic's into mixer output to pc?
We want to be able to take something like the Sennheiser PC 350 headphones with the microphone and have them plugged into a mixer (Mackie). To clarify what you are wanting to do: You mean "like the Sennheiser PC 350 headphones with the microphone" but costing only $10? And this is for the...

Re: Removing background music from interview
Unfortunately there is little that you can do.
You may get some improvement by using the Equalization effect to cut down the bass frequencies (below 300 Hz) and the very high frequencies (above 7 kHz).

Re: Digital garbled sounds on playback????? HELP
I presume that you can play "ordinary" audio files without them turning into "digitized garble"? What happens if you export the recording as a WAV file and play the file with your usual media player? What happens if you import a known good audio file into Audacity and play it in ...

Re: Real beginner stuff
I've a strong hunch about this problem, but could we fill in a couple of gaps: and simply hit record while music played from my stereo. You mean like a CD/radio sound system? What sort exactly? How was this connected to your computer? My guess > You connected either a "Line out" or "h...

Re: Recover unsaved recordings (no crash involved)
As you have probably discovered, Audacity projects are made up of a ".AUP" file, and thousands of little data files. This is much more complex than a simple, single WAV or AIFF file and much more prone to error. For important recordings (with any software, including Audacity) we strongly a...

Re: How to pull only one person's voice from a bad recording
Probably not. But if you upload a short sample (just a couple of seconds) in either WAV or Flac format, you may get some volunteers to have a go and see what can be done.

Re: "DISK SPACE REMAINING TIME FOR RECORDING yy minutes"
With all of the disk activity involved in deleting those files, Windows may have increased the swap file size. (by default, Windows allocates disk space to the swap file dynamically according to its perceived need). Try rebooting, then run Windows for a while without being too demanding, then reboot...

Where are you making these settings? In Audacity or in the Windows Control Panel?sakura741 wrote: even with the playback device set to 'headphones' and the recording device set to 'microphone'
