Re: bad quality after small key change
In Audacity 1.3.12 there is an effect called "Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift". This is a lot slower than the normal Pitch shift effect, but generally produces higher quality results. If you can cope with the speed changing as well as the pitch, then use the "Change Speed" effec...

Re: Exporting as Stereo WAV Files
I don't know that we ever established this, but if you Saved an Audacity Project in 44100, 32-bit Floating (Audacity default) then the show may not be clipping...yet. If the Audacity Project still exists and the individual tracks are below 0dB, then the tracks could be remixed at a lower level to a...

Re: understanding peak-meters
Why not just do absolute value before computing it? Would that slow things down too much while recording? I don't know if it would have much of a performance hit, but I wouldn't have expected it to. If you write a patch against SVN head I'd be happy to test it. It should not matter unless there is ...

See here for LAME: http://audacityteam.org/help/faq?s=install&i=lame-mp3 and here for FFMpeg: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#installffmpeg These should be used with Audacity 1.3.12. If your version of Audacity is older than 1.3.12 I would recommend t...

Re: Strange "chorusy" recording artifact.
using vocal mic into 1/4" front jack Do you mean 1/8" jack? Many RealTek HD Audio sound cards have "Noise Reduction" and "Echo Cancellation" effects switched on by default. You need to go into the RealTek control panel and switch all of the microphone effects off. Even...

Re: waveform scrolling
are there any plans to include this kind of scrolling in the future??? It is quite a popular request on the Feature Request page of the Audacity wiki: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Feature_Requests I've added your vote. Smoother Track scrolling on Playback: Keep the cursor in one pla...

Re: Codec Help
Now that you have the ACM files installed you may be able to convert the files to normal WAV format using the free media format converter "SUPER" by erightsoft. I'm guessing that the files that you have are either GSM 6.10 or G.711. SUPER may also be able to tell you what the actual format...

Re: Exporting as Stereo WAV Files
Irrespective of how good their reputation may appear to be, I'd avoid that studio. It should be absolutely no trouble at all for them to work with mono files if they know what they are doing. If they were merely "advising" you that your files were mono (in case you hadn't realised), then t...

Re: Sound problems after first experiments with Jack
File names beginning with a dot are not necessarily system files, though many system files do begin with a dot. The dot before the file (or folder) name just makes them "hidden". It is very common for configuration files to be hidden in the users home directory in this way. For example, th...

Re: why my signature is not adding?
Can we leave signature after having a post here? No. Comment spam is an increasing nuisance that is ruining forums for everyone. Signatures were previously allowed on this forum for all, but the amount of abuse of this privilege has left no option but to have a total ban on signatures for all excep...
