Re: No Sound on "Play"
The Sansa Fuze manual says that you can just drag and drop files into the Sansa player’s MUSIC folder (page 14 of the manual). However, to be able to play the music, the files must be in a supported format. The only formats that the manual says are supported are MP3 and WMA. If you install LAME for ...

Re: Can't hear recordings
As this is a different problem, I've moved your post to a new topic so that it doesn't get lost at the end of an old discussion.
What sort of recorder is it? How did you "download recordings" into your computer?jaymibh wrote: I download recordings into my computer with a voice recorder.

Re: Define custom file format
Converting them is one option, but that just seems a bit weird seeing as Audacity *can* actually read the files, its just the defintion thats missing. But Audacity does not have any way of adding custom definitions for imported files. I think that you would need to customise FFMpeg to be able to do...

Re: Modulate a tone with another at a specific depth
The sample you have posted is not actually modulation. There are 3 primary frequencies in that sample 400, 425 and 450 Hz. These tones have been mixed together in particular proportions. The waveforms slowly move in and out of phase with each other. When they are in-phase the waveforms will reinforc...

Re: Master Volume for multiple tracks?
I looked all over the forum and couldn't find this question, sorry if i'm repeating it. No problem - it's a good question. There's a couple of possible "solutions": As you are using Audacity 1.3.12 (if you're using an earlier version you should update), you can mix tracks and have them (t...

Re: Background noise only when exporting
BTW you probably meant to say ogg vorbis and not only ogg No, I meant to say "Ogg" because I'm a lazy typist :P Because ogg vorbis is better! :P Hard to disagree with that - but is it because Ogg Vorbis is "approximating" the low level dither noise as silence, or is it because e...

Re: compensating for too much input gain after the fact
There is a tool in Audacity 1.3.12 called Effect > Clip Fix. It may help a little. Reduce the level of the show with Effect > Amplify, -3dB and then apply Clip Fix. For ClipFix you may need to allow a bit more overhead than 3 dB. Assuming that Audacity is working in 32 bit (default) I'd suggest red...

Re: Recording stuff
Mostly agreeing with Koz, except.... Basically I'm gonna se Skype and (surprise) Audacity 1.2. I know how to record what's on screen (the stereo mix thing) and I know how to record things through a mic Big problem - Skype needs to capture exclusive access to the sound system to work. When you Skype,...
