Re: Online Synthesizer help
google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic and AVG Online Web Page Scanner both report the site angryoctopus.co.nz to be free from malware, but as with all web surfing, appropriate precautions should be taken for safe surfing.

Re: few basic problems
(I use the newest audacity version, 1.2.6) That is probably the main cause of the problem. There has been no official "stable" release of Audacity for many years. Audacity 1.2.6 was the last version to have the title "stable" attached to it, but the name is misleading because on...

Re: Recording BBC Radio programmes
I think we're slowly getting there. Open Audacity and go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" What options are available and what options are currently selected? Does it matter at this stage that I can't find or see the llame file? No. Let's sort this problem out first, then we can deal ...

Re: can not import audio files
I don't get WMA import/export crashes in 1.3.13 with the Ubuntu-supplied FFmpeg either - the crashes were with the nightly FFmpeg. No I did not have the mixer board open. Hopefully I'll have a bit of time to experiment further over this next weekend. I've rebuilt Audacity 1.3.13 from the latest SVN...

Re: understanding peak-meters
I'm not sure if you know, but a fix has been committed for this - see bug 259. Excellent. I've just tried it and it correctly indicates the absolute value of the signal with the dark coloured meter bar, which is in agreement with common practice, (and with the description in Wikipedia. http://en.wi...

Re: How to fix rushing / stabilize tempo?
The drums need to speed up by an average of about 3%. Because the drums are not "pitched" instruments, you can use the "Change Speed" effect. (with pitched instruments you would notice the pitch change when using the "Change Speed" effect, but for non-pitched percussion...

I think that right click on the "Stereo Mix" icon should allow you to enable it and set it as the default.
