Re: Disc Space Remaining 6hrs 25 mins & Falling!
(Slight problem here as it will only recognise the files after opening each one briefly in the "Now Playing" list. However, then it's fine) Check the following setting in Audacity Preferences: "Edit menu > Preferences > Quality > Default Sample Rate: 44100" Also check that you a...

Re: Project Rate
Re. MediaInfo On second thoughts it probably won't help very much as in a "normal" .VOX files the data is encoded and there is no information within the file to indicate how it has been encoded, so unless an application is explicitly told what sort of encoding is used, it just looks like r...

Re: Recording in Audacity while it's not the active program?
I use FRAPS to record video and game sound, but I want to use Audacity to record my voice so I have 2 separate streams to work with and edit if necessary. I doubt that this can be done. Fraps uses "virtual sound card" technology to integrate tightly with the game and to do this it needs t...

Re: Project Rate
Opens VOX files fine and plays them perfectly IF I reset the rate I find that quite surprising unless they are not "headerless ADPCM files". I believe the .VOX extension is sometimes also used for 8 bit PCM data, which may explain how you are able to open them. Would you be able to find o...

Re: Quick step by step how to record from screen
WAV was the default but since I hear about MP3 more often, I selected MP3 instead There are good reasons why WAV is the default; It is "uncompressed", so the Exported file will be virtually identical to the recording in Audacity, whereas MP3 (and all other "lossy" compressed for...

Re: Files seemingly intact. No audio
Chances of recovery are very slim (at best). Did you try playing the recording before you closed the Audacity project? Was there any sound? Do you still have the AUP file and the _data folder? If so, open the _data folder and drill down through the sub folders. Are there thousands of 1 MB .AU files ...

In that case you need to be recording the Line input, not the Mic input.mhagar2 wrote:My mic is plugged into my mixing board and then it goes into the line in input of the computer via 1/8 plug.

Re: Non-clipping distortion
Ouch, that's badly distorted. I think it's beyond rescue.
I suspect that the microphone itself has been massively overloaded.

Re: flac file problem
But FLAC is a compressed format, so should have been uncompressed and added to the _data folder Yes it should, but that assumes (a) that the missing data really is from a Flac file (castingporosity has said that the missing parts are from Flac files), and (b) that the Audacity Project, including th...

Re: flac file problem
castingporosity, I suspect that is not a problem with the files, but rather a problem with the Audacity project. You are talking about tracks in Audacity that were imported from audio files (some Flac files and some MP3 files)? If you import files into Audacity, all of the data must be available. Th...
