Re: sound changes lost when saving to wav file
Any idea on what I did wrong? Not without you saying exactly what you did. Start with saying exactly which version of Windows and exactly which version of Audacity (Look in Audacity "Help menu > About Audacity" for the version number). Then describe exactly which buttons we need to press ...

in VLC I have the choice between 'PulseAudio' and ALSA (and other things). None of these are 'devices', like 'M Audio Delta 24/96' - which the average homo-(partially)-sapiens in the average street would recognise - are they? And on Windows you might have the choice of WDM, Direct Sound, WASAPI or ...

Re: audacity will not accept lame_enc.dll
Did you follow the steps in my last post?
If you did, then it's likely that you also have another version of Lame installed somewhere and it is confusing Audacity. We can probably fix that, but first I need to know if the previous steps failed, or if you tried something different to fix the problem.

Re: Tone control plug-in
So what happens now?
The current version of the Bass/Treble plug-in has all the agreed changes made.
Do we now e-mail the developers and ask for "Bass Boost" to be taken out and "Bass/Treble" put in, or do we raise the question on the QA list, or something else?

Re: Audacity Will Not Open Project File
MPEG 4 is usually a video format.
Do you have the current version of Audacity (1.3.12)?
Do you have FFMpeg installed?
Which operating system are you using?
Is your F: drive a local hard drive (inside the computer)?

Re: vst-bridge-1.1 - freeverb2
Install Audacity 1.3.12 http://audacityteam.org/download/
Do not install the VST bridge (that's for Audacity 1.2.x only)
Place the Freeverb VST files in the Audacity Plug-ins folder.

Re: Plug-in headers
Agreed. I think this is the link to LV2 category types which are recognised by Audacity's built-in plug-ins and by Nyquist and LADSPA plug-ins. Yes, and that is a subset of http://lv2plug.in/ns/lv2core/ (subcategories of "plugin" in LV2 only. So, for example, "lv2:Template" is n...

Re: distortion?
Most likely yes. When you have the tape player turned up to 6 or 7, it is probably overloading the input of your sound card.

Re: FFMPEG libraries keep getting 'lost'
It sounds like Sony Vegas MM HD Pro is provoking the problem. Perhaps Sony Vegas MM HD Pro is also using FFMpeg, but a different and non-compatible version to what Audacity uses? That's just a guess
I'll see if I can get a second opinion on this.

Re: Noise removal
The question is...should this be happening? Yes it should be happening. To use the Noise Removal effect in Audacity you have to select it twice - once to make a "profile" of the noise,(then the Noise Removal window closes), then you need to select Noise Removal a second time to "appl...
