Re: Clipping or Distortion on Vocal High Notes of Ripped Aud
You've not said how you ripped the DVD. Does the original DVD rip play without distortion?

Re: Importing Problems-White Noise
Check that you are using the latest version of Audacity (1.3.12) and have FFmpeg installed.

Re: WHEN I RECORD AND ACTUALLY BURN IT TO A CD IT SOUNDS LOW
Before you Export your recording, apply the "Amplify" effect to it (Effect menu - set the target level to around -1 dB).

Re: Recording speed slightly off; extremely off in 88.2 kHz
Others may debate this point, but in my opinion the benefits of recording at 88.2 kHz are mainly fictitious and are heavily outweighed by disadvantages of recording at a non-standard sample rate that is not supported natively by the hardware. That does not mean that I want to debate the point. Feel...

Re: enable software playthrough and I can't record
To be honest, I don't know to set up my sound system to make do without Software Playthrough in Audacity, so for me it is probably necessary. I'm probably teaching my Grandmother how to suck eggs, but do you have "PulseAudio Volume Control" and "PulseAudio Device Chooser" instal...

Re: Additional options for encoding ogg vorbis files.
However, if you want to be able to harness the full power of the Ogg encoder, you can configure it as an external program. I couldn't find any documentation for using an external ogg encoder with Audacity, so here's an example: oggenc2 -q2.5 - -o "%f" oggenc2 is the name of the ogg encode...

Re: Monitor Volume during recording PRIORITY:HIGH
For the Audacity downloaded it clearly says: Windows 7 and Vista. Yes, we know, and most of the regulars on this forum wish it was a bit more enthusiastic about Audacity 1.3.12 I use Audacity 1.3.12 on Windows XP all the time and find it to be vastly superior to Audacity 1.2.6 in just about every w...

Re: How delete first nn minutes of MP3 file?
You can use the Selection Start and Selection End boxes at the bottom of the screen. Koz I agree that is the best way to do it, but is that method available in Audacity 1.2? If not, upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12, then you can enter the start and end times into the boxes at the bottom of the main Audac...

Re: Additional options for encoding ogg vorbis files.
My EVO can only play back files that were encoded at 48 kHz max! No problem. Set the "Project Rate" (bottom left corner of the main Audacity window) to 48000 directly before you Export. Fractional qualities (e.g. 2.75) I don't think there will be a lot of call for this as the preferred va...
