Re: Convert mp3 with sample rate 24000Hz to 44100Hz
I have set default sample rate and project sample rate to 44100Hz and 16 bit sample format Normally it is best to leave Audacity at the default Quality setting of 44100 Hz 32 bit float. Is there a special reason why you need to set the Quality at 16 bit? (note that the bit depth setting in "Qu...

Re: Recording - Distortion/Hiss
Don't export using MP3 or WAV. That's the problem. You can't export guitar sounds with those formats, especially "clean" guitars or acoustic. It wobbles and flutters and hisses and does all sorts of weird stuff. It's some kind of glitch in Audacity 1.3 If you would like to start a new top...

Re: Using Jack Control Patchbay with Audacity
I'm confused as to what's an input and what's an output in JACKspeak. Picture each device as a box. For example, a simple set-up: [Capture device]-->[Audacity input] [Audacity output]-->[Playback device] You will notice that the audio signal comes OUT of the "Capture device" box and into ...

Re: SoundLab G056C recording w/ 5.1 Speakers
It sounds like you have been thorough and my initial impression is that you have set things up correctly. One exception is that you are using a very old version of Audacity (yes I know it says that it is the latest version, but it has not been updated or maintained in years). I would highly recommen...

Uninstall 1.2.6, (it's very old and no longer maintained and on Windows it can interfere with Audacity 1.3.x opening) Kill Audacity in the process tab (or reboot). Then follow the instructions here to reset the Audacity 1.3.12 preferences http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audacity_Preferences#Resett...

Re: How to make voice records for phone hotline best?
Thanks for the clarifications. For a telephone you will probably want mono recordings (telephones are mono). <<< *.wav files will be required>>> In that case I'd suggest going with "16 bit Microsoft PCM WAV" at 44.1 kHz sampling rate. This is probably the most universal audio format that e...

Re: big and bold 'read me first' in board index page?
Many users that post on the 1.2 section are actually 1.3 users who didn't realize there were two different sections for each version. I think that is probably true. Virtually all Linux users have Audacity 1.3.x, but about 1/3 of the posts are in the 1.2.x section. Yes anything can be customised, bu...
