Re: SoundLab G056C recording w/ 5.1 Speakers

The signal from a record player cartridge is very very tiny. Consequently if the contacts are not good electrically you will get a very bad signal or no signal at all. A tiny bit of dust, grease, corrosion, or anything like that on the contacts can be enough to cause problems. Normally the head shel...

Re: Music sounds like in a box

Hi Carol, For Windows Vista you should be using Audacity 1.3.12 - this may not help with your immediate problem, but it will avoid a lot of other problems (Audacity 1.2.6 is very old, has problems on modern systems, and is no longer maintained). http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows Bill wil...

Re: Audacity killed Skype

Hopefully not permanently, but that is definitely a possibility... It would be really bad if Audacity was able to cause permanent damage, but happily it can't. So are you saying that it is a USB turntable that you were recording from? (you've not actually used those words) One of the Mac guys will ...

Re: Multi-channel Recording in Audacity

Regarding multi-channel recording in Audacity, it's mostly about driver support. Audacity can currently support just one input device and one output device. Multi-channel playback is not currently supported. Audacity can not be distributed with ASIO support due to licensing restrictions, so on Windo...

Re: Audacity killed Skype

Lenco turntable A USB turntable? If so, the quickest way to get back to normal would be to unplug the USB and restart your computer. If it's a conventional (non-USB) turntable, then I you must have switched the recording input from the "Built-In Microphone Internal Microphone" to the line...

Re: Audacity killed Skype

That makes a change - it's usually Skype that kills Audacity. I'll move this to the Audacity 1.3.x part of the forum (you posted in the 1.2.x forum) I doubt that you will need to use TimeMachine to fix this. All that has happened is that your default recording source has switched from being you usua...

Re: SoundLab G056C recording w/ 5.1 Speakers

I just installed the Beta version and It did not actually fix the problem. I didn't expect it to :D but Audacity 1.3.12 is a much better program and is actively being developed and maintained. I just took the Headshell off and made sure the connections where connected correctly and secure then re a...

Re: Audacity later versions automatic clip fixing

There's often many ways to achieve the same result. Another option when using Audacity 1.3.12 would be to change the track format to something other than "32 bit float". 32 bit float is the only available format that is able to represent audio above 0 dB. All other formats will clip at 0 d...
