When recording from the ION (and not any other type of recording) go to the bottom of the "Transport" menu and enable "software playthrough". (if this is enabled when recording from other sources it is likely to cause either an echo or a loud screaming sound.) Audacity is free, o...

Re: I'm having a problem recording a DJ mix
You've posted in the Audacity 1.2 part of the forum. I'll move it for you. The default sound settings for laptop computers are usually set up for voice recording (Skype and such like) and so have various "enhancements" enabled such as "Echo Cancellation", Noise Reduction", A...

Re: sound card query
That depends on what you need from your sound card.chad.thorne wrote:Hi, first post here and related question. Would you suggest this UCA202 soundcard for my PC (running XP) as well?
What do you want to record and what other equipment are you using?

Re: Problem importing large files
Hi scaud,
Why are you posting in the Audacity 1.2.x part of the forum?
Play and Record using RAM is designed as a workaround for people that have machines with slow hard drives - does that apply to your computer? If not, why do you think that you need to enable this feature?

Re: Audacity worked great for about 40 tracks, now it won't
The recommended version of Audacity for Vista is Audacity 1.3.12 (unfortunately Ion do not seem to mention that) The problem is in the Audacity Preferences, but they are buried in the Windows Registry and difficult to get to. I recommend that you uninstall Audacity 1.2 , then download Audacity 1.3.1...

Re: Input Volume Way Too High In Ubuntu 10.10
It seems to me that all sound is pretty quiet unless it is cranked way up (as compared to my ancient Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, which I hated to give up), but any sound level above 'unamplified' in sound preferences gains a tinny note at first which grows exponentially to a pure shriek, as if a thous...

Re: PLEASE ANYONE CAN DO THIS FOR ME
"Elevayta Extra Boy" is a plug-in that claims to be able to do "vocal isolation" (commercial plug-in but only costs $0.90, or there is a free demo version). How well it works depends very much on the type of sounds that are in the music- some music will work much better than othe...

Re: 1.3 Download to USB Key Won't Work???
I wanted a copy on USB Key in case I might ever lose my laptop hardfile. Audacity can be downloaded at any time, free of charge, from the main Audacity web site. http://audacityteam.org/download/ If you need a new copy at some time in the future you would be better to download it again so that you ...
