What is your playback device?

Ensure that "Software Playthrough" is NOT enabled (in "Transport menu > Transport Options").

My guess is that they are overloading their microphone - if that's the case then it can't be fixed.
Perhaps you could post a short sample (in WAV format) so we can see if my guess is correct (or not).

The option to "Normalize all tracks" on import was removed a couple of versions ago.

If you use the Normalization effect very frequently, you could create a keyboard shortcut for the effect: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/key ... ences.html

Download the "Audio Device Info" to your computer (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/hel ... evice_info)
Then upload the saved file with your reply (viewtopic.php?f=49&t=64936)

Are you using the computer's built-in sound card for recording and playback?
If so, check in the Windows Sound settings that the device is set for a sample rate of 44100 in the Recording AND Playback tabs.

I'm not able to reproduce the problem either.

Does the crash occur every time in every project, or just one specific project?
