Re: How do I record diff. takes on one track?
On Audacity 1.2 recording will always start a new track. Upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 and you can use Shift+R (Append Record) which will continue the recording on the end of the current track or from the playback cursor position if that is further to the right. Select where you want the cut to be, the...

Re: Using audacity to measure the speed of sound
I think you're probably right about the microphone socket bgravato. Regarding the experiment, if the sound is closer to one of the headphones than the other, then it will take longer for the sound to travel from the sound source to one headphone than to the other. The time delay between left and rig...

Currently you can't. Audacity does not yet support multi-channel playback.

Re: Cutting and pasting
Yes, just create a new track and copy the audio clips there. You can mute that track so that it does not play when you don't want it to. Audacity 1.3.12 can have multiple audio clips in the same track, and the entire piece can be made up of lots of clips in lots of tracks. An "audio clip" ...

Re: Binaural Tones with Surf 2
Even without the two extra "Amplitude" controls, there are still 11 controls (which I think we agree is too many). For just one "section" we could have: Process/Help/... Initial Tone Frequency Initial Beat Frequency Duration Final Tone Frequency Final Beat Frequency Amplitude (0 ...

Re: Loose my temp files
Working with audio (or video) uses a lot of disk space and running out of disk space is nearly always fatal to the project.
Free up as much disk space as possible, then defragment your hard drive. Windows should have a minimum of 10% free disk space at all times.

Re: Cant select 'stereo mix' in the right with EMU 0202
I don't think I've ever seen a USB interface that provides stereo mix on Windows XP. I've always used a loopback connector. <<I also dont know how to make the loopback connection>> Very simple. Get a stereo audio lead and connect one end to the "Line input" of the EMU card and connect the ...

Re: Analysis of files
I'm not sure what you mean. dB relates to amplitude and Hz relates to frequency. What exactly is it that you want? Is it the average amplitude at different frequencies? If so, use "Plot Spectrum" and Export the results. The maximum length that "Plot Spectrum can analyse is 237.8 secon...

Re: Music sounds like in a box
Is it too late for me to transform the already saved MP3 files into wav files? If you still have the Audacity Project you can re-export as WAV. If not then it's too late, but if the MP3s sound OK I'd suggest using them for the CD. It's not the "optimal" way to do it, but most CD burning p...

Re: 1.2.6 noise removal superior to 1.3.6 ??
even though the result is like hardware applied AGC? Yes, the effect is very similar, but because it is applied after the recording it cannot protect against recording at too high a level (which hardware AGC is supposed to do), but it can offer better control over the gain that is applied than hard...
