Re: Muffled audio

In the first 10 seconds are you also getting the proper sound recorded as well as the "white noise"?

No mention of "Stereo Mix" in there.

Re: Music sounds like in a box

Do you also have the sound card set to 2 channel stereo in the Windows Control Panel? (There's some information here about the Windows Control Panel, though this example is referring to "Stereo Mix" device settings whereas you need to look at the USB device settings http://wiki.audacitytea...

Re: Low volume on exports

Windows 7 has volume controls for each running audio application. If the volume in Audacity is much louder than in other applications it is probably because the volume is set much louder for Audacity. The volume controls for each audio application can be found by clicking on the "Volume" i...

Re: Project exports mp3 with warbling distortion?

The aim is to keep the sound quality loss as small as possible at each stage. As your "original" audio is MP3, you can't do anything about the compression at that stage. In Photo Story 3, set the audio quality as high as possible. If Photo Story 3 supports a lossless format, use that, othe...

What are you trying to record?

Re: Noise Reduction Change (we're all doing anyway)

Already implemented in Audacity 1.3.13 alpha
The amplification amount is set by the (new) "Sensitivity" slider.

Re: recording with a powered mixer and laptop

They recommend a d/i box for bass and a mic'ed up amp for guitar. That is the better way to do it, though I often plug instruments directly into the 1/4" "instrument" inputs on my desk. Guitars and basses often have too strong a signal to plug into a microphone socket (and XLR microp...

Re: Memorex turntable & Win 7 help

Check that everything is connected and reboot.
Wait for the computer to completely boot up before you do anything.
Then follow the instructions here to open up "Sounds" in the Windows Control Panel and make the USB device visible and enabled.
