Oops, missed that. In that case the level is definitely a bit on the low side, but although lower than the optimum will probably still be acceptable after Amplification.

Re: Multitrack recording - direct to Audacity or external de

I was not actually talking any specific OS as JACK is cross platform On Mac OS X it might be easier to use CORE audio rather than Jack http://www.thismuchiknow.co.uk/?p=51 Does Jack actually work on Windows? Jack development on Windows has tended to be rather sporadic and Windows users tend to shy ...

Re: Noise when recording vinyl

The default sample rate in Audacity is 44100. In Windows 7 and Vista the sample rate for the recording device can be set in the Windows Control Panel. Audio hardware will have one or more "native" sample rates that they use internally. It is not uncommon to for there to be some sort of pro...

Re: MP3 Export Adding Garbage at Beginning

after a lot of searching I found a tool that takes my wave and throws out a looped mp3 - the site also has a proper explanation of how the program does it as well. Hope it helps Unfortunately that does not help much at all. The "prepared" MP3s suffer the same problem as any other MP3 whic...

Re: Change Trim End plug-in into Trim Start?

Depending on exactly what you are doing there may be easier ways to trim the start of a selection, but in answer to your question: The "trimming" is done with the function (extract-abs) http://www.audacity-forum.de/download/edgar/nyquist/nyquist-doc/manual/part6.html#index405 The syntax is...

Re: Muffled recording

You should use Audacity 1.3.12 (1.2.6 is really old and no longer supported).

The problem is due the sound card settings. Probably due to "Echo Cancellation" or "Noise Reduction" being enabled (they should be disabled).

Re: Export Multiple Fails

That means that those labels in your screen shot - which appear to be "point" labels - are actually "region" labels of a very very short length. So expanding them to cover the song fixed the problem. Zooming in and collapsing them to points would have worked as well. You beat me...
