Re: MRI background noise filtering

The whistle can be reduced quite a bit with notch filtering at 3720, 2360 and 1588 Hz. The "jackhammer" noise is a non-starter. As far as "Noise Removal" is concerned, that is not "noise", it's a performer in your show. You may be able to get some degree of success at r...

Re: error unable to open target file

I'm not sure if the numbers at the end of the file names are part of the file name, or if you are just indicating the length of the file, but you should avoid using dots in file names. The maximum length of a fully qualified file name (including its full directory path) should normally be less than ...

Re: Unable to open .WMA *After* installing FFmpeg??

You've posted in the Audacity 1.2 part of the forum. Which version of Audacity are you using? (look in "Help > About Audacity") There are different types of WMA file. FFmpeg support for WMA is incomplete so you may have a version of WMA that is not yet supported by FFmpeg. Try using SUPER ...

Re: Downloading VST plug ins

Try installing the plug-in according to their instruction, then in Audacity go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Effects" and set Audacity to rescan effects. Then restart Audacity. If that does not work, please say precisely which part you are having trouble with. Note that there are thousands...

Re: Tone Arm weight....

If the problem is that the stylus is not tracking correctly (skipping), ensure that the tone arm can move freely and that the turntable is absolutely level before you start changing the tracking weight.

Re: Batch import/export

I'm confused about which version of Audacity you are actually using (you've posted in the Audacity 1.2.x part of the forum, but FFmpeg is only available for Audacity 1.3.x) I would highly recommend that you use Audacity 1.3.12. AVI files can be problematic because there are so many different codecs ...

Re: Created problem recording from turntable

1) Do yourself a big favour and upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows 2) In Audacity 1.3.12, go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" - The "Recording" device needs to be set to the USB option and the "Playback" device needs to be set...

Re: Echo - Get rid of it

thanks for playthrough delay tip. But my main problem is echo with simple recording. If I just say "test 123" on record I get an automatic echo. No headphones involved. How do I turn it off is my question. To get rid of the echo, turn off "software playthrough". However I guess ...

Re: Noise Reduction Trick

Ubuntu 10.10 (fully updated) Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.00GHz Generic wheel mouse WxWidgets 2.8.11.0-Oubuntu4 Audacity built from SVN today. the two you have problems with have much larger MAX values I think that may be the key. I vaguely remember a similar issue with the sliders in Nyquis...

Re: Noise Reduction Trick

If you build the most current code (I know some work has been done with this code recently) and still experience the problem let me know and I will ask for more complete details and see if I can pin point the problem. Just installed the latest SVN (revision 10831) and still got problems with the Se...
