Re: 'Motorized volume sliders' Mixing table

As I do not know what timeframes Audacity have for developing new functions and if my 'wish' will be realized within a foreseeable future or not The developers are currently working toward the release of Audacity 2.0 (based on the 1.3.x series). Audacity is (officially) in "feature freeze"...

Re: 'Motorized volume sliders' Mixing table

did we not discuss something along these lines a nmonth or so ago on the quality or dev mailing list? Yes we did discuss it somewhere, but I couldn't find it. That FR has a request for the Equalizer to be operable in real tim. (time?) My interpretation of what zekewarg was asking is precisely for r...

Re: Jumping/tearing sound with export multiple

AFAIK any MP3 export will include this short bit of silence at the start and end. I'm not sure that is exactly the case Bill. Exporting a generated tone as an MP3 from Audacity 1.3.12 (using Lame 3.98.4) clearly shows the added silence at the beginning, but the end of the file appears to end a litt...

Re: Jumping/tearing sound with export multiple

Unfortunately this is a common problem with all MP3 files. There is a limitation in the MP3 format specification such that MP3s always have a small amount of silence added to the beginning of the file. Some media players are able to compensate for this by ignoring the very beginning of the file duri...

Re: Noise when recording vinyl

If you fancy trying another test, try changing everything to 44100 and see if that works.
This would be preferable if you are making CDs as CDs use 44100 Hz.

Re: can not import audio files

It built OK. The version of FFmpeg is listed as: F(52.64.2),C(52.72.2),U(50.15.1) I think this is the standard FFmpeg build for Ubuntu 10.10 The "Locate" and "Download" buttons are greyed out. On launching Audacity from the command line: ALSA lib pcm.c:2208:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate...

Re: Warnings on launching SVN HEAD

I'm getting errors when recording using a debug build. The errors occur when the cursor reaches the end of the screen and the screen is redrawn. They sometimes result in Audacity freezing. Update: I've just done a fresh build (non-debug) and I'm getting the error message: "Expression 'stream->c...

Re: Recording my keyboard with Audacity

Switch off "software playthrough" (bottom of the Transport menu) If you can no longer hear the keyboard you will need to configure your sound card to play sounds from the line input. How to do this varies depending on your Windows version, but you will probably find the option in the Windo...

Re: can not import audio files

Can you test the patch from bug #233? Certainly. I presume that this patch supersedes all other FFmpeg patches so that I apply it to a brand new clean svn download of the Audacity source code? Which version of FFmpeg should I use this with? Will I need to completely remove other builds of FFmpeg fr...

Re: Audacity Won't Play or Record

The last selection finally seemed to capture the audio, although in "lumps"; the waveform doesn't track the moving line, but shows up in clumps over time. Is this a loading problem on the CPU? I'm running a 3.06 GHz P4 with a GB of RAM. I've occasionally noticed this issue and it has been...
