No, it installs into a different folder. The old version will still be available, but note that Audacity 1.2 cannot open Audacity Projects that have been saved by Audacity 1.3.

Re: massive noise on tracks, unpredictable

I am experiencing the same sort of problem. .... it sounds as though the signal is being bounced or lost momentarily. Not sure what you mean "bounced or lost" - that doesn't sound like the same sort of problem as "massive noise on tracks". Could you clarify what you mean. Also, ...

Re: guitar usb no sound

That may be part of the problem. The recommended version of Audacity for Vista is Audacity 1.3.12 - you can download it from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows More importantly we cannot offer appropriate advice unless we know what sort of computer you are using, which program you a...

Re: Audacity Won't Play or Record

Audacity's Record and Playback ports are only visible in Jack if: 1) You start Jack before you start Audacity 2) you select "Jack" in "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices > Host" 3) Audacity must be in Playback mode for the Audacity output ports to be visible in "Jack Connect&...

Re: Noise when recording vinyl

the player supports flac, which does sound subtlely better to me on there when I've tested against mp3 - little things like echo on drumbeats are better detailed. Will sample rate make any difference to that? yes FLAC is better sound quality than MP3, though the quality of MP3 can be very good if y...

Re: Device not found?

Good to see you've done your homework, downloaded the right version of Audacity and posted in the right place :) For USB devices, connect the device before you open Audacity. Don't use USB hubs - connect the device directly to the computer. Then open Audacity and go to "Edit menu > Preferences ...
