Re: extract common part of two audios

They are identical.. but I don't want to remove them. On the contrary I would like to keep only them... and get rid of the backgrounds. In that case the answer is no. Or at least, not with the tools available in Audacity. There is a VST plug-in (that works in Audacity 1.3.12) that claims to be able...

Re: "Audacity has stopped working"

The recommended version of Audacity for Vista is Audacity 1.3.12 http://audacityteam.org/download/

Re: Found this on ebay

I think they know what they are doing is ethically wrong. I quite agree with your objection to this. You could try sending a complaint to ebay, though I don't expect that you will will get far with that approach. Possibly the best strategy is to tell everyone about Audacity and tell them that it is...

Re: Constant tone yield non-uniform recording

The problem occurs when using the web-cam mic?
how is the web-cam mic connected to the computer?
If it is plugged into the microphone socket, what sort of sound card do you have?

Re: no mp3 audio?

Upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 http://audacityteam.org/download/
and install Lame according to these instructions http://audacityteam.org/help/faq?s=install&i=lame-mp3
If Exported MP3 files still do not play, try exporting a WAV file and see if that plays.

Re: NEW SPEAKERS...MONO NOT STEREO

I would also highly recommend Audacity 1.3.12
When you record in Audacity, do you see two wiggly blue waveforms like this:

Re: extract common part of two audios

A qualified yes. If the vocals are identical they can easily be removed, but they must be absolutely identical . Import both (mono) tracks into Audacity. If the tracks import as "2 channel" tracks, use "Tracks menu > Stereo Track to Mono" to convert them to 1 channel mono. Click ...

Re: Removing unwanted noise

To avoid the "chirping and warbling", reduce the amount of Noise Removal. This will remove less noise, but will cause less damage to the remaining audio. is version 1.3 better at this? This can vary depending on the audio being processed, but generally the Audacity 1.3.12 version is better...

Re: How to find RMS value?

Try this: stats.ny
If you need to analyse long tracks you will need to run the plug-in over multiple sections and then take an average.
