Very unlikely.
I can think of some test to try, but it may easily just be a bug in 1.2.6 so you should definitely upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 before spending too much time/effort/money.

Re: Excessive line in volume

In that case I think a hardware pad will probably be the best option though you may want to go to a bit more than -6 dB. Perhaps -12 or even -20 dB will give you a more usable range. Somewhere on this forum I posted a wiring diagram for an adjustable "pad" attenuator (using a stereo pot). ...

Re: extract common part of two audios

how do you know this tool can do it? The task that you are describing is essentially the same as "vocal isolation", which Elevayta Extra Boy claims to be able to do. The examples on the download page show that with the right kind of material it can indeed perform this difficult task, thou...

Re: Auto Synchronize two sine waves

I think the best way of "stretching" would be by resampling. For example, if you need to stretch 1 second of audio by one sample you could use: (force-srate (+ *sound-srate* 1) s) http://www.audacity-forum.de/download/edgar/nyquist/nyquist-doc/manual/part6.html#index227 Some useful links f...

Re: 24 bit sample format

The "default" sample rate in Preferences sets the default format for recording.
All internal processing is done in 32 bit so it is generally best to leave the default Quality setting at 44100 32 bit float.

Are you sure that you are using a "line in" on the computer and not a "mic in"?

Re: How to reduce WAV file, freq, etc, still understand spe

Do you mean that you want to reduce the size of the WAV file?
Why can't you use MP3? What are the format restrictions?
