Re: cannot get audacity to record on ubuntu 10.10 x64
You just need some app that will decode wma's and encode ogg vorbis That's true, but as we are so close to getting Audacity working it would be nice to complete the job. (yes "Sound Converter" can convert WMA to OGG, but I prefer your other recommendation "pacpl") Just waiting f...

Re: cannot get audacity to record on ubuntu 10.10 x64
I might have customized it a bit trying to get some midi apps working, but honestly I can't remember. Not very helpful, I know. That's fine, just checking that you not made any major changes. I am trying to record some wma files which came from a CD which has broken. Are you able to play the files ...

Re: cannot get audacity to record on ubuntu 10.10 x64
Ubuntu only provides a package for beta, and I can't seem to install 1.2 for 64-bit Audacity 1.3.12 is the correct version for Linux. The 1.2 version is really old and requires many obsolete libraries in order to build, and even then it is likely to be highly unstable. When I run audacity from the ...

Re: Unable to increase bitrate from 128kbps using MP3 Conver
When using MP3 export in a chain command, Audacity uses whatever encoding options were used last. If you wish to force a particular bit rate (for example "Preset = Insane"), generate a short tone and export it as MP3 with the setting that you require. Delete the "dummy" track tha...

Re: Where is Apple Lossless Encoder?
The docs ... say "You can also choose "Apple Lossless Encoder" . The docs say: " Audacity 1.2 cannot export to Apple formats, but you can export to WAV or AIFF and convert to M4A in iTunes by choosing "AAC Encoder" in iTunes preferences as above. You can also choose &q...

Re: Stereo Track is Silent???
Audacity 1.3.12 can open projects created by Audacity 1.2.6, but if you save a project with Audacity 1.3.12 then Audacity 1.2.6 will not be able to open it.

Re: How to record sound froum Keyboard?
MIDI is not sound. MIDI is digital control data http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_Instrument_Digital_Interface To record MIDI you need to use a MIDI sequencer program. Audacity is for audio. To record audio from your keyboard with Audacity you need to connect an audio output from the keyboard to ...

Re: guitar usb no sound
There are advantages to dedicated recorders, I use one regularly, but I still prefer to do editing and processing on a computer (export the audio from the recorder and import it into Audacity).
