It's not just old, it's ancient.

I've never had much success with Audacity 1.2.x on Linux - I managed to get it to run (as an experiment) but it was horribly unstable. The main problem was that it required so many obsolete libraries.

Re: extract common part of two audios

King Stewart wrote:I read your post's about taking the vocals from the beat by aligning the instrumental and regular mp3 of the song but I can't figure out how to do it in Audacity.
What recordings do you have of the song?

Re: Device not found?

If that's all that is listed, then Windows is not recognising your Mbox.
If Windows does not recognise the Mbox, then it is not available for Audacity to use.

Are you sure that your Mbox is correctly installed?
Do you have the Windows (WDM) drivers installed for the Mbox?

Re: Bulk altering entire albums?

Create a "Chain" with the following commands:

Stereo to mono
Export Mp3

Then apply the chain to your files.

Re: How do I avoid the extra seconds on the end of a song?

Check which version of Audacity you are using (Help menu > About Audacity)
This sounds very much like a bug from Audacity a couple of versions ago (I think it was 1.3.10).
The current version is 1.3.12
