Re: Error While Opening Sound Device
the mic IS somewhat recognized by windows seven because it's listed as Unspecified under Devices and Printers. Yet when I right click the icon for it, and go to sounds settings and the recording tab, it's not listed. I have it set to show disabled and disconnected devices too. The Samson C03U shoul...

Re: Where is Apple Lossless Encoder?
My apologies if my post came over as overly critical, they were just a few minor points that I noticed when reading through the page that was being discussed. I wasn't even sure that is was particularly worth rewriting the section regarding Apple lossless as this is the first and only time that anyo...

Re: Error opening project
As a matter of interest, what was the invalid character, and where was it? Was it in a file name or in part of the metadata (id3 tag)?Kal wrote:I am running 1.3.12 and I still get the same error. Fortunately editing out the invalid characters does work and allows me to open the project.

Re: compress file to 43 kb???
A mono 16 bit PCM WAV file with a bit rate of 43 kbps would have a sample rate of 2.6875 kHz
That gives you a maximum audio frequency of about 1.3 kHz which will sound really muffled.
Attached is a mono 16 bit WAV PCM file with a bit rate of 43 kbps for you to try.

New plug-in effect - PopMute
This is currently an experimental effect. It does not contain any error checking for invalid input and may have bugs. The effect is like an upside-down Noise Gate. The effect can heavily attenuate loud sounds. It may be useful for rescuing recordings that suffer from loud clicks or pops. Downloads: ...

Re: Crossfading?
What sort of "background noise" are you thinking of? Another option would be to use a "Gate" to lower the volume during quiet sections. Here's a Nyquist plug-in that can do this: noisegate.ny This could be used in conjunction with adding some kind of background sound (noise or mu...

Re: Static pops at the end of Audacity-edited WAV files
Well that explains why you are hearing a click, but I can't think of any obvious reason why you are getting that odd raised sample at the end of the track. The fact of it occurring on WAV files and not other formats may be coincidence. Are there any other common factors to which files it occurs with...
