Re: Audiacity 1.2.6 error while recording ... cant open temp
And the Laptop which i use for turntable recording has VISTA installed. so i will try this. Hopefully you'll get this message before you do. There's something else to check first. If Vista thinks it is a microphone then it will probably set recording to mono. Audacity 1.3.12 should respond to this ...

Re: Hide Extension
What if you're Exporting a file with the name "myfile.wav" and you already have a file in the same location called "myfile.mp3" Many Windows users write to the forum about being able to open a WAV or an MP3 file, when in fact it is not a WAV or an MP3, but they don't know that it...

Re: Notch Filter
My slider would not have gone below 20Hz There's probably not much point trying to notch out audio below 20 Hz, but having a range from 0 to 10000 Hz makes the slider move in sensible steps when you click to the side of the slider knob. Can I save a notch and mail it to me mum? No, but you can &quo...

Re: Notch Filter
"Notch" filters are supposed to be bottomless pits, getting ever deeper and narrower as the centre frequency is approached. You can "fake" a bottom to the notch as described in Edgar's post by mixing in a proportion of unprocessed signal. In some circumstances this can cause unex...

Re: Saving MP3 mod's
(Note: In item 10 of your ‘instructions’ you said to enter a ‘0’, I did and nothing changed ( Sorry, my mistake - it's been a long time since I've use Audacity 1.2.6. I meant to say: "10) Type "0" (that's a zero) in the lower (New Peak Amplitude) box and click OK." (I've now cor...

Re: How to identify transcoded files
Not all original recordings contain noticeable amounts of very high frequencies. On the other hand it's very easy to add high frequency noise to a recording. How are you going to be able to tell if any high frequencies present are from the original recording or just noise that has been added later, ...

Re: How to record from different format
I think there's a plugin in winamp to save the output as wav. In the preferences for the output device, there used to be an option to redirect the output to a file it would save a wav Options > Preferences > Plugins / Output select "Nullsoft Disk Writer". Whatever WinAmp plays will then b...
