Re: DeNoise vs. Aud 1.3.12 Noise Removal
Macs have no trouble with "stereo 44.1 kHz 16-bit (Microsoft) PCM WAV" files. That format is the most universal audio format there has ever been and is recommended on all platforms because of its universality. Regarding Vinyl vs. CD. In England there are strongly held views about how to ma...

Re: Hide Extension
How would you know if the extensions are different if you have hidden the extensions?chen lung wrote:The files would exist together no problem, as long as the extension is different.
You've still not said what the benefit is of hiding the extensions.

Re: Saving File
The AUP file and the _data folder will always be saved into the same folder. The AUP file is not saved inside the _data folder. I'd recommend that for each Audacity Project, create a new folder. For any audio files that you will be importing into the project, put them into that folder. When you Save...

Re: Latency with USB
There is no direct (no hard wired) connection between a USB microphone and the computer sound card. That means that the sound can only be routed through to the sound card output via software, and that takes time. Expensive USB microphones get round the problem by including a headphone socket on the ...

Re: Quality reduces when saved as MP3(newbie)
I want to also mention that the "obvious" .WAV export in Audacity is the 16 bit version but I've been instructed on this very forum that everything should be saved as a 32 bit floating point during production to assure no loss (accessed by exporting "other uncompressed files" an...

Re: I cannot import audio wma
for Ubuntu 10, you can just install Audacity and FFmpeg from Synaptic.
That will install Audacity 1.3.12 and a compatible version of FFmpeg.
You will probably need to have the "Restricted" repository enabled.

Re: DeNoise vs. Aud 1.3.12 Noise Removal
A 2T drive has more than enough room to store your entire vinyl collection in WAV format. 2 drives would offer some protection against one of the drives failing. It's going to take a long time to digitise 2000 albums, so if the budget is tight you may not need to buy two really big drives now. By th...

Re: tracks zip through in less than 1 second.
Audacity 1.2 only supports importing a limited range of file types: WAV, AIFF, OGG, FLAC and MP3. Other compressed file types such as WMA, AAC MP4.... are not supported and will sound like an accelerated chipmunk. Audacity 1.3.12 can support many more file types if you also install FFmpeg. see these...

Re: compresssing mp3 file?
i have a mp3 file of 103 seconds duration, i want to make it run only 100 seconds Change Speed by 3% (best quality but makes the pitch a bit higher as well as making the file a bit faster and quicker) Change Tempo by 3% (pitch does not change, but slight loss in sound quality) That means you get tw...

Re: Information booket for Memorex turntable
We probably can't help you with the information booklet for Memorex turntable. (have you tried contacting the store where you bought it from, or searching Google?) For instructions with Audacity, I'd highly recommend that you download the latest beta version (currently Audacity 1.3.12) from the Auda...
