Re: Mute/Solo buttons ignored by Mix and Render
As for the Solo button behaviour, the standard on hardware mixing consoles is to be able to solo several channels at once. Thus this is the "standard" setting. Yes, that's a reasonable explanation. Not really a big deal as it's "set it an d forget it". The more important issue i...

Re: Static pops at the end of Audacity-edited WAV files
It looks like Media Monkey is chopping off the final sample, but still reporting the same length for the file - I don't know how that works.
It is also adding a 1 sample click - must be a bug in MM?
Any results from your old version of MM yet?

Re: No Sound!!
No I don't see recording level control in the control panel. I think that you need to find it. I'm not on a Vista machine, but I think the volume control is somewhere like: Start menu > Control Panel > Sounds Recording Tab Right click on the device that you are using (microphone?) and select "...

Re: Mute/Solo buttons ignored by Mix and Render
The mute/solo buttons are ignored when using "Mix and Render" or "Ctrl+SHIFT+M". This was also the case in Audacity 1.2 (Quick Mix), but I still think it is wrong. I vaguely recall a discussion about this, but I can't find it now. (anyone else recall seeing anything about this?)...

Re: mix-render - one mono panned & mono dup - panned
I thought that was only the case in 1.2.x and that there ist was regarded as a bug. Personally I think that Mix and Render should take account of the track mute/solo state, but as far as I'm aware it's always been this way in Audacity and is not considered to be a bug. I vaguely recall this being d...

Re: Saving MP3 mod's
when I used exactly the same process on the same 2 examples using MP3 format, 1 of them, one of the 'crook' ones, did not - as set out in item 3 of my previous reply. Could you go through the test again with that particular file. Ensure that you use unique file names for the exported files. Write d...

Re: Mute/Solo buttons ignored by Mix and Render
have you noticed that you can select mute and solo at the same time for the same track? That depends on what you have set in "Edit menu > Preferences > Tracks" Try setting it to "Simple". Personally I think that "Simple" and "Standard" are mis-named. The &quo...

Re: Volume super low, loud hum
I tried recording using my webcam and that recording was perfect, although my webcam is connected to a USB port. I don't know if that changes anything. USB microphones (such as the one in your webcam) bypass the sound card altogether. Even if the sound card is faulty (and it sounds like it is), USB...

Re: How to record my voice
What should I do? You should provide more information. Exactly which version of Audacity (look in Help menu > About Audacity)? Which version of Windows? What are you trying to record from? Is your recording device enabled in the Windows Control Panel? What settings do you have for the recording dev...

Re: Latency with USB
It's a really bad idea to be listening to the microphone through speakers while you record. Other than the distraction of hearing your voice 200 milliseconds after speaking, the microphone will pick up the sound coming out of the speakers and that will be recorded as an echo. Always use headphones t...
