Re: Making TiMidity run
With this 25 MB soundfont that you've again generously provided me a link to, how is it piano music? It's not piano music, it's a piano soundfont. It's a collection of piano samples that are used to synthesize the sound of a piano being played. In a sense the soundfont is a major part of the instru...

Re: Fixing volume/pitch differences between recordings?
If any of the sections are noticeably louder than others, move the section to a new track and use the volume slider on the left of the track (in the Track Control Panel) to adjust the volume level down a bit. Apologies, I typed that in a bit of a hurry and originally missed out the important phrase...

Re: Fixing volume/pitch differences between recordings?
What's the problem sound like?
There's only a limited amount that we can tell from a picture. If the issue that you are wanting to fix is "volume" (loudness) then use the amplify effect on sections to make them louder or quieter.

Re: Correct version of lame for 1.3.12-beta ??
<You can check if Lame is installed and Audacity is configured to use it by going to "Edit menu > Preferences > Libraries"> I did that and I saw "MP3 Library Version LAME 3.98.2" That's it then. It's installed and ready to go. Check it again to make sure it still says that - if ...

Re: Making TiMidity run
If you like piano music, try this 25MB soundfont. It contains only piano sounds, but in very high quality. http://www.pianosounds.com/freesoundfont.htm
Then you need to find some really good MIDI files to show it off - try here: http://www.classicalmidiconnection.com/cmc/

Re: Fixing volume/pitch differences between recordings?
Make a backup copy of the project first in case it messes up. I presume that you have already exported each recorded section as backup WAV files - if not, do that asap. When you have your back-ups safe, I'd suggest that you use the "Normalize" effect on each section in turn and Normalize t...

Re: Unable to find or record using Stereo Mix
How are you playing the karaoke video song?
Which version of Windows are you using?
Which version of Audacity are you using (look in Audacity "Help menu > About Audacity")
What sort of microphone are you using and how is it connected to your computer?

Re: Draft: HOWTO convert audio file formats
Thanks bgravato. I'm in the habit of not_using_spaces in file names so it slipped my mind to mention spaces at all. I've edited my last post to include a short section about paths and filenames, and put quotes round the file names in the final script. As you are a lot more familiar with scripting th...

Re: Possible to "Increase" Bit Rate?
Before you Export, set the "Project Rate" to the sample rate that you want the Exported file to be.Jorma wrote: but when I export it knocks it back down 8000Hz.
The "Project Rate" is set in the lower left corner of the main Audacity window.
