Which version of Lame did you install and where did you get it from?
Did you follow the instructions HERE to configure Audacity?

Re: computer noise while recording

Disconnect the power supply and run from batteries.

Also, the recommended version of Audacity for Vista is 1.3.12. I would highly recommend that you upgrade as there are many known problems with the old 1.2.6 version on Vista. http://audacityteam.org/download/

Re: Poor Quality Sound Recording - Feedbaback after 27 secs

If you have speakers attached to your computer, ensure that they are off. To listen to the computer use headphones.
If that does not fix the problem, please give full details about your system, how it's all set up and exactly what you are doing.

See here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/VST_Plug-ins

Not all VST's are supported.
VSTi's (VST instruments) are not supported.
Trial versions will often not work.

Re: Need help with new mobo audio chipset - VIA HD Audio

First off I'd highly recommend upgrading to Audacity 1.3.12 http://audacityteam.org/download/ Open the Windows Mixer (there's usually a loudspeaker icon near the Desktop Time/Date). Click on "Options" > Properties" Select "Recording" and ensure that the input that you want t...

Re: Flanger effect when recording

Some PCs have a "Line-in" connector. Often on desktop/tower PCs there is a microphone input (often colour coded pink) and a separate line-in connector (often colour coded light blue). Some laptop PCs have a dual function input socket that may be used with either a mono microphone or stereo...

Re: Scrolling of waveform display while recording

I suspect that the "not scrolling" is a performance issue. As far as I'm aware the display should scroll unless "Update display while playing" is deselected, however, scrolling may not occur if the computer does not have sufficient resources available to update the display. As an...
