Re: Can't record in stereo

To open the audio device settings:
  1. open the run dialog with Windows logo + R
  2. enter: mmsys.cpl
  3. press the OK button
Then click on the "Recording" tab.

Open the "Properties" for the M-Audio.
The number of recording channels is in the "Advanced" tab.

Re: Looping causing distortion

PulseAudio is installed as the sound system manager in Mint by default. Jack is not required. Save the "Audio Device Info" ("Help menu > Diagnostics > Audio Device Info") somewhere convenient, then attach that file to your reply (see: https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?...

Re: Is Audacity version 2.4.2 compatible with Windows 7? and Boosting dynamic mic power questions

I have windows 7 (offline, not updated since around 2019 some time and do not plan on updating). Is 242 compatible? Audacity no longer officially supports Windows 7, but as far as we are aware, if Windows 7 was fully updated prior to Microsoft ending support, then we think Audacity 2.4.2 should wor...

Re: Stereo Mix doesn't record with Microsoft Teams

I don't use Microsoft Teams, but it is probably impossible to record it with Audacity (on one computer) because the Teams software will take exclusive control of the sound system - this is normal behaviour for conferencing software. To record a Microsoft Teams meeting, see here: https://support.micr...

Any idea why this is happening?
Most likely because the files do not strictly conform to the MP3 specification.

You may still be able to import them if you have "FFmpeg for Audacity" installed - In the File Import browser, set the file type filter to "FFmpeg-compatible files".

Re: cut and record mp3 with audacity without any quality loss?

There will be very little loss in quality if you export the edited track as a high bit-rate MP3. There will be virtually no loss in quality if you export the edited track as 16-bit WAV, AIFF or FLAC. There will be no loss in quality if you export the edited track as 32-bit WAV, but many apps don't s...

I'm surprised that there is only 1 thread about this issue.
If you search Google for:
windows file explorer freeze
you will find lots of discussions about the problem.

Could I put a category or folder in "Tools/Macros"?
No, but if you say why you want to do this I may be able to suggest an alternative approach.

Re: Streaming output through Pulseaudio? No ALSA.

I don't know.
You are working on a platform that is not officially supported and creating a custom build of Audacity, so this is uncharted territory.
Let us know how you get on.
