Re: two tracks playings at same time help split

You cannot "split" the second recording. You cannot completely "remove" the first recording from the second recording. You may be able to partially remove the first recording from the second recording. What you need to do is to import both recordings into Audacity and line them u...

Re: Batch Noise Reduction

Sox has a "noisered" filter. The "noisered" filter in SoX has the same limitation as Audacity in that it requires a noise profile, so either there is the problem of creating a noise profile for each audio file, or using a "generic" noise profile. Overall I'd agree with...

Re: What equipment used for language learning?

With large diaphragm condenser microphones it is common to use a "pop filter" (blast filter) - basically a piece of thin fabric on a frame that goes between the microphone an the person speaking/singing. There's no reason that you could not use a similar device with a cheap desktop microph...

Re: Merging/Recovering .AU files

The error it provides is "bad magic number" on all 3 computers. Is that using the "python recovery tool"? If you have access to a Windows PC you could try the alternative tool by Tyler Knott http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=CrashRecovery#Automatic_recovery_tools (sor...

Re: Is my recording level too low? Is my amplified level ok?

Everything before about 4 minutes 10 seconds is junk.
You won't be able to get it much better than this:
sample.flac
(270.34 KiB) Downloaded 81 times
Probably best to just do a tasteful fade-in at 4:10

You checked those where?

This sounds very odd, so I'm looking for more information - any other details that you can think of may help.

Re: Audacity stereo mix problems.

The 5.1 sound could be a problem - Your recording is 2 channel stereo, so you are assuming that the RealTek drivers will correctly route a stereo mix to the recording input from a 6 channel source - I would not be confident about that working properly. Also, the higher the sample rate and bit-depth,...

Re: Using my M-audio interface to record with audacity

I'm having the exact same issue. It's much more helpful if you describe the issue that you have rather than saying that it is exactly the same as another poster. The previous poster did not say if they had upgraded to Audacity 1.3.12, which operating system they were using, how they had set up thei...

Re: Improvement of Auto Duck effect

That's an interesting idea mederi and I can see how it would be useful for how you are using the Auto Duck effect. Usually the "Duck Amount" setting works well as the effect is most commonly used for "radio show announcements" and similar applications where the music track has a ...

Re: Need Help with Help Manual

It's probably a permissions issue. If you installed Audacity from the Ubuntu repository (using Synaptic or Ubuntu Software Centre or similar) Create a folder called "help" in "/usr/share/audacity/" and make yourself the owner with full read/write permissions to that folder. Then ...
