Re: [5.1/multichannel/ac3] Creating 5.1 AC3-file without dow
I don't have a 5.1 system to test this on, but: If I import a 5.1 AC3 file into Audacity, each channel appears in an Audacity track. If I repeat the test, the same channels consistently go to the same Audacity tracks. When I export those tracks back to a 5.1 AC3 file, each of the tracks goes back to...

Re: low volume level in MP3
when I tried to export as MP3. It worked, but now there is a noise during playback, Not really enough information to go on. For example: You mean when you play back the MP3 file? What sort of noise? If you generate silence and export it as an MP3 do you get the noise? If you generate a tone and exp...

Re: lame.buanzo.com.ar page is down
Probably just down for maintenance, but I've contacted the administrator just to check. Give it a couple of hours then try again. If there is still a problem please post back here. Don't be tempted to try other versions of Lame as they will probably cause problems with Audacity somewhere along the l...

Re: [5.1/multichannel/ac3] Creating 5.1 AC3-file without dow
there is no way to figure out what is L and what is R Why don't you make a test file? Record 6 tracks - on track one record yourself saying "track one, track one ..." on track two record yourself saying "track two, track two..." ... ... When you play the file on your surround sy...

Re: low volume level in MP3
Oh heck, I was afraid it might be something like that. Let's just confirm - Everything is working OK when you use Audacity 1.2.6 (except for the playback level of MP3s that you make with Audacity)? Keep a note (pencil and paper) of everything you change while we are testing so that you can put every...

Re: Tech spec settings.....
I have downloaded Audacity 3.3.12 I presume that you mean "Audacity 1.3.12"? (you have also posted in the Audacity 1.2 section of the forum, so once we're clear about which version you have we can move this topic if necessary). Check that Audacity is not Paused (it must be stopped) and th...

That is possible, so let's not change that at this stage.Brenthard wrote: I was told that an older driver still works better with XP at the Audiophile forum.
M-Audio often have special control panel / mixers for their sound cards. Do you have such a thing installed?

Re: Latency help!
I did check the volume levels and they are up. You should be able to hear the microphone through your headphones whether Audacity is running or not. Can you? If not, you need to examine your sound card settings and find what's wrong so that you can hear the microphone through your headphones (witho...

Re: exporting wav to ulaw
I am doing this on the latest release (non beta) 1.2.6 The latest non-beta version is now ancient. I'd suggest trying the 1.3.12 version (it is a very late beta release). You can have both versions installed at the same time, so no need to uninstall the 1.2.6 version. Audacity 1.2.6 cannot open pro...

Re: unconfuse me - clipping doesnt matter ....
So conclusion is that every spectral line except 10 kHz is indeed an alias. There are no sub-harmonics. Yes I believe that is correct. Even "soft clipping" can cause aliasing to occur, though in this case the aliasing can often be substantially reduced by resampling to a higher sample rat...
