Which version of Audacity are you using?
What operating system are you using?
What exactly do you want to do, record drums onto a second track? add a click track? record yourself clapping? import drum samples? something different?

Re: Stereo recording
Is there an adapter or simple device that could combine them Probably not. Most likely you would need to use a sound card that has two microphone inputs. Some PC microphone inputs do support stereo microphones, but it also depends on whether your microphone is of a "dynamic" or "elec...

Re: When Recording on Laptop Mic, Playback Pitch is Way too
You can disable VST's in Audacity to find out if it has anything to do with your VST plug-ins. I doubt that it is related, but since you mention it it's worth checking. To disable VST support, go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Effects" and disable VST support completely (I think there are t...

Re: Noise Reduction of background hummng
Why not Amplify at the default settings? Wouldn't you want the largest sample you could get short of clipping? It's certainly worth testing with different amplification amounts, but there seems to be a sweet spot which is often around 8 dB amplification. Going back to my "rubbing out crayon sc...

q: still don't understand what the speaker and mic icons and levels are for - the ones on left, under the recording buttons (not the monitor ones on right) When it is possible to do so, the sliders alongside the speaker and mic icons will adjust the playback and record levels respectively. Dependin...

It's a bit better than an old fashioned telephone and quite a bit better than a walkie-talkie. It's quite a lot worse than my $15 clock radio.Tikevin83 wrote:The response curve is listed as 125hz-8khz -5db. I'm guessing that's really bad.
Re: No Sounds
I think you are 95% there. If you are getting a wiggly blue waveform in Audacity then Audacity HAS recorded. My guess is that while your USB device is plugged in, nothing plays on your computer (try playing something with Windows Media Player and I'm betting no sound comes out). is that right? If so...

Re: Noise Reduction of background hummng
I have tried the settings of the Noise Reduction, by selecting the "background" noises and click the "Get Noise Profile" button,(using the standard settings, and tried different settings as well), and it will only remove the noise in just the silent sections. the noise is still ...
