Re: only one second of song comes up
Audacity 1.2.6 only supports a few file types, MP4 and WMA are not supported. Audacity 1.3.12 supports a much greater range of files if you also install FFmpeg. http://audacityteam.org/download/ http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#installffmpeg If that does n...

Re: Recording plays back at differnet pitch
How much is "way out" of tune?
Are we talking a couple of cents, several semi-tones, or double speed?

Re: Remove Limiting
Sorry if I got you excited Koz. It's theoretically possible to perfectly compensate for soft clipping, but practically it's near impossible. The main trouble is that "correcting" but being slightly off with either the threshold or the curve will usually make the "corrected" wavef...

Do the files play OK for the first few seconds or do they play super fast and garbled?

Re: Amplifing individual channels
If the problem is on an entire track, then the easiest solution is to adjust the "pan" slider L<--->R on the left end of the track (in the track control panel) while you play the track. Adjust the pan slider so that the sound is correctly centred, then Export the corrected track (File menu).

Re: Can't record in Stereo using M-Audio Fast Track & Shure
I can record in stereo in Garage Band but not on Audacity That's a bug in Garage Band. The Shure SM58 is a mono microphone. It's probably plugged into input 1 of the M-Audio Fast Track and input 2 has nothing plugged into it. Therefore you should get a signal on the left channel and silence on the ...

Re: Recording plays back at differnet pitch
What sample rate do you have set in Audacity "Edit menu > Preferences > Quality" If it's not set to 44100 Hz, set it to 44100. "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" set the number of recording channels to "1 (mono)". If you are using Vista or Windows 7, go into the Window...
